cooperative program

Since it's inception in 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention has always had one mission - The Great Commission (Matt. 28: 12-20).  In 1925, in an effort to better do the Great Commission, the Southern Baptist Convention launched the Cooperative Program.

Each Southern Baptist church is asked to contribute a percentage of it's tithes and offerings to the Cooperative Program which in turn supports a wide array of ministries and missions including:  evangelism efforts, children's homes, volunteer missions, missions education, new churches, Christian colleges and universities, collegiate ministries and camps.  Currently our church contributes 2% of our tithes and offerings to the Cooperative program.

The Cooperative Program funds the International Mission Board's appsoximately 5,541 missionaries who are engaging 634 people groups around the world.  The Cooperative Program also supports 5,611 North American Mission Board missionaries.

Working together, through the Cooperative Program and other mission offerings, Southern Baptists saw over one million new believers baptizsed last year!

The Cooperative Program also helps support our six Southern Baptist seminaries in their efforts to educate 16,000 pastors, missionaries, and future church leaders each year.

To help The Cooperative Program reach it's potential, would you plese:
Pray:  Pray regularly for your Southern Baptist missionaries in your state and around the globe.  "Pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers."  Matthew 9:38 (HCSB)

Go:  Be involved in some sort of missions endeavor.

Give:  Out of love for the Lord, give regularly to Him through your church.  If you are not tithing, begin to do so and also discover the blessings of giving beyond the tithe.

"Since you excel in so many ways ... now I want you to excel also in this gracious ministry of giving."
2 Corinthians 8:7 (NLT)
